My Cousin’s Wedding

Just got back from weekend trip to Semarang city located at Central Java , Indonesia. It was my cousin’s wedding day and indeed was a busy day for our big fat family. Weddings in Indonesia is such a big fuzz ! People do spend their money on their weddings. Just a sneak peak at the wedding decor in Indonesia. This was taken during my cousin’s wedding. Happy Wedding Andre & Melfi 🙂

Crowned With Love

Teach me, Father, how to go
Softly as the grasses grow;
Hush my soul to meet the shock
Of the wild world as a rock;
But my spirit, propt with power,
Make as simple as a flower.
Let the dry heart fill its cup,
Like a poppy looking up;
Let life lightly wear her crown,
Like a poppy looking down,
When its heart is filled with dew,
And its life begins anew.

Claude Monet & Nature

If you ask me who is my favourite artists, I must say Frida Kahlo,  Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh. I will not elaborate on Frida Kahlo and Vincent van Gogh, I love them to  bits..although both of them died in a very tragic way, but their works showed boldness and strong characters which inspire myself as an ‘art’ person. I love arts and crafts since I was a kid, I love to draw, playing music instruments, I sing, I dance , I tried to cook well not really cooking in the kitchen but I do have my ‘own’ playing kitchen set.

I do truly respect Claude Monet for his passion and love for nature,  he had lovely garden full of flowers in his house so that he could paint the beauty of it. It is not achievable to have a garden full of Roses or Peonies in Singapore as the hot weather will kill the plants, maybe some tropical flowers and plants will do but not flowers like lilies, roses and peonies.

Peony Tulips

Met my old friends yesterday for dinner, they were craving for something local kinda hard to choose local food around Orchard, so I decided to bring them to ION Food Opera, where all local foods are. They enjoyed the meals, we ordered Hokkien Mee, Nasi Padang, Mee Pok and Lemon Barley for drinks. Rhema and her husband has been living in Vancouver for more than 8 years , so yeah we haven’t met for almost 10 years and guess ! we are reunited yesterday. She was telling me stories about Vancouver and her garden. She grows beautiful tulips in her backyard and it is just a matter of putting the seed into the soil ! I was like WOW ! Vancouver rocks ! oh well, obviously we can’t do that in Singapore, the place is so hot and humid, Tulips certainly cannot grow in tropical countries except in green house. I remembered one day in class, when my tutor took out a seriously BIG BLOOM tulips from the fridge and I was in awe looking at them. Yes, Peony Tulips Bicolor Salmon Pink or known as Double early tulips. The petals are so much different than the single early tulips and we think that it is the combination between peony and tulips as the layered petals remind me of peonies . They are very gorgeous for bridal bouquet or for mother’s day arrangement, salmon-y color and really big bloom. I do really wish they can grow here in Singapore. Ah.. I am just day dreaming..

One of the wedding bouquet I love using Peony Tulips.

Simply beautiful 🙂

Roses Costes Dani Roses

A friend of mine goes to Sweden and Paris twice a year, and he gave me this beautiful picture of a Rose boutique in Paris. Oh ! I would love to visit this shop !I am dying to visit this gorgeous shop, who knows I will be able to meet up with famous celebrities ! I heard that this shop is visited mostly by socialites, celebrities who adores roses .. Yes..only roses.. David Austin roses, garden roses and many more ! Look at the big bloom  !how could a person like me resist it! would love to stare for hours adoring the beauty of it. For me, flowers and colors are one of the best de-stressing agents after GOD and pets. Tee-hee !  Opening one of the monotype flower boutique like this Roses Costes Dani Roses might be interesting, will be able to concentrate more on one type of flowers and look at the colors, I think roses have the most colors among all other flowers. Subtle or strong bold colors are available according to the client’s preference.

Combining different color and types of Roses is very interesting,..

oh this is the video

I do hope that one day if I visit Paris I will be in front of the shop dancing and screaming for joy !

Glorious Iris and Rosa La Campanella

Iris are one gorgeous flowers I adore. Irises are perenial herbs, growing from creeping rhizomes(rhizomatous irises) or, in drier climates, from bulbs. Irises come in many colors such as blue and purple, white and yellow, pink and orange, brown and red, and even black. A purple iris is symbolic of wisdom and compliments. A blue iris symbolizes faith and hope. A yellow iris symbolizes passion while white iris symbolizes purity. A gift of iris can be used to convey many emotions. But oh who cares! they are gorgeous just the way they are :). I personally never engage my own emotions while doing the flowers,  I hold on to the color chart and also the types of the flowers available in Singapore. Iris has a very fragrant smell besides, it died easily in hot weather like Singapore. They are good for bouquets and also vertical table arrangements. This post, I want to concentrate more on the structure bouquet with these beautiful flowers !

Fresh Bridal Bouquet

Hellow ! This was my first attempt doing wedding bouquet 🙂 I love the color combination between the greenish hydrangeas, pale yellow rose, purple eustomas, and fresh green cymbidium. This gorgeous color combination is suitable for happy go lucky bride to complete her most precious wedding day. I used to think that purple is such a no-no color, but anyway it turns out beautifully with green and yellow as the highlight flower of the bouquet. Pardon me about the ribbon, this is still my first attempt doing it, I gotta study more regarding tying the perfect bow for the bouquet.

Genesis 1:1

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Well, flowers were included too. My passion for flowers has grown for the past few years especially after I finished my basic flower arrangement class. Living in the tropical countries make it harder for we, Asians especially to understand more about seasonal flowers. Flowers are very limited in the local flower market, sometimes I have to order several weeks or even several months in advance before the ‘dateline’ and they are not cheap at all. Below books have inspired me a lot on floral design, Preston bailey is a great inspiration for me, as a professional event designer he has captured my heart with gorgeous arrangement for wedding decorations , altars decoration and also party detais. Moniek van den berghe and Pim van den Akker from Netherland are my creative source , as their work have inspired me so much on the flower art composition. I really do hope to add more collection to my library, I do have other books like Jane Packer book and small flower guide books , they have very limited information about the flowers but he pictures attached tell me all the stories. Tee hee..
